Kai, meaning 'seed' in the Pima language, features a menu rich in creativity, history and Native American culture. Executive Chef Michael O'Dowd and Native American Chef de Cuisine Jack Strong incorporate the essence of the Pima and Maricopa tribes and locally farmed ingredients from the Gila River Indian Community to create unforgettable masterpieces.
For both of us, this was one of the finest meals either has ever experienced. It was nearly perfect from beginning to end. We decided to go all-in, and we ordered the "Trail to Our Homeland" tasting. Four hours later, we left in a perfect state of bliss. Almost every item was a joy to experience. About two-thirds of the way through the marathon we began to worry that we would not make it to the end. We had no reason to worry. Along the way we discovered a new favorite wine, and we learned so much about local cuisine and ingredients. The serice, of course, is exacting and beautiful to watch. The final touches came as a complete surprise. An experience not to be missed.
Now this was a 5 star experience! Servers were multiple, friendly, competent, yet understated; there when you needed them but not so pushy as to detract from a romantic dinner. The food was exceptional! It was imaginitive and expertly prepared in a very timely fashion. The resort is well-conceived and we found the education at table about the Native Americans of the area very interesting and menu artwork magnificent! This is a truly exceptional resto and we have been to many worldwide. My wife and I agree; one of our top 5 meals!
Anyone wanting a wonderful experience with innovative food should try this restaurant.
An experience and a journey with food. Loved it.
Highly recommend this restaurant. Was a lifetime experience, I'm a good cook and appreciate all the extra effort that was put into the food and its preparation. The service was over the top,and our guests are world travellers and we wanted to take them to a new place to thank them. They were very thrilled and can't wait to take their friends there. Great evening!!!!
Wife and I had a great time at Kai. Celebrated our 5th yr anniversary and this was perfect!
appreciable concept that allows the local Indian culture to influence the culinary accomplishments of the Chef; add to this the local art and the stories told by the wait staff and you have a unique combination of culinary debauche and cultural savvy. It is rare in the US to find such a mix and it finds itself well suited to the Arizona surroundings. Rather expensive but well worth it. Service can be somewhat ineficient, mostly due to "overstaffing" I think.
