Tapino Kitchen & Wine Bar

Tapino is what you get when you combine tapas and vino, and the restaurant certainly lives up to its name. Executive Chef James Porter proves himself a master of small plates, as everything on the menu is big on flavor. Dishes are eclectic and inventive, with options such as Sea Bass with dehydrated Serrano ham chip and guava puree, and Duck Confit Tostadas with Mexican cuitlacoche, refried beluga lentils, and queso fresco. Porter’s culinary repertoire stretches across the globe, with dishes representing Spanish, French, Italian, Argentinian, Indian, Chinese, and American cuisines. The kitchen’s second half—the wine list—is as informative as it is entertaining, with witty descriptions and wine flights that aim to educate the palate. Topping it all off is a modern, casual interior and a vibe that is perfect for dates as well as casual meals.

Small Plates and Big Wines - Love it!

We found Tapino about a year ago and now try to get by at least every couple of weeks. This is absolutely the best of the best! Their menu consists only of "small plate", tapa style dishes. They are fantastic. I love the stuffed dates, the fried Okra, the shrimp, the pork belly, and maybe best of all the "lobster corndogs". This stuff is upscale fine dining at its best - in small portions so that I can try 3 or 4 different ones every time I go. I love it! The food is better than excellent, and the service has always been exquisite. Twice, the Chef even came to my table to check on me! - Now, THAT is service. I love big fat red wines, and they have a great selection including my favorite - 5 or 6 different Zinfandels. Dishes run from $5 to $9 each, and wines run from $5 (during happy hour) up to $10 a glass for some of the higher end wines. Bottles run from $30 to $hundreds. I highly recomend this place. Tapino is really special.

    Best Tapas in Scottsdale

Our style of dining is to nibble on gormet foods and sip wine. We heard about Tapino from a friend and tried it out last week. Wow! These are the best Tapas in Scottsdale and the wine list is very friendly and pretty reasonably priced. Although the Tapas are not very "Spanish", they are delightful little plates of exquisitely prepared culinary treats. By all means, everryone should try it. We have already been back once, and will probably make this our second home.
